About Snack Real

We're Snack Real.

A small independent publication about crunchy, chewy, salty, sweet snacks and the people who love them. Tested by real snackers, edited with care, published without pop-ups.

Our mission
Make snack time a little more exciting.

We started Snack Real in 2024 because we were tired of two things: "top 10 snacks" lists written by people who clearly hadn't tried them, and reviews that read like press releases.

So we built the opposite. Every snack is tried by a real snacker. Every review is honest. Every recommendation is something we'd actually buy again. From chips and cookies to candy and healthy bites — written by people with names, cravings, and opinions.

No sponsored fluff. No AI-written reviews. No pop-ups. Just honest crunch.

“
Life is too short for boring snacks. The best bites are the ones you crave.
— The Snack Manifesto
What we stand for
Four things we don't compromise on.

Every snack review on Snack Real goes through these filters before it's published.

01

Tested by real snackers

Every snack is tried by a person with a name and a craving. No sponsored fluff, no ghostwritten reviews, no content farms.

02

Honest flavor reviews

No affiliate links disguised as recommendations. If a snack is mediocre, we say so. If it's great, you'll know it's great.

03

Useful before trendy

We care about trends, but we care more about whether a snack actually tastes good, whether the crunch holds up, and whether it's worth the price.

04

Slow by default

We publish less, taste more, and don't chase viral hype. One honest review is worth more than ten hype pieces.

05

Every craving, one point of view

From chips to cookies to candy to healthy bites — every category gets the same care, the same testing, the same honesty.

06

Readable, always

No pop-ups, no auto-play videos, no cookie walls that hide the content. Just snacks, written well, easy to read.

The team
Real snackers, real cravings.

A small editorial team and a handful of regular contributors. Everyone writes what they actually eat.

Crunchy, salty, and dangerously snackable. Has strong opinions about kettle-cooked vs. standard.

Priya Nair
Cookies & Bakes

Chewy, gooey, and just-sweet-enough treats. Skeptical of anything labeled "guilt-free."

T
Tomás Almeida
Candy & Sweets

Sugary little bites that hit the spot. Believes chocolate is a food group.

I
Ingrid Solberg
Healthy Snacks

Wholesome snacks that actually taste good. Reads labels so you don't have to.

How we got here
A short history.

From a weekend side project to a small independent snack publication — one honest review at a time.

2024
The first review

Snack Real launched with one bag of chips and a promise: no fluff, no filler, no fake enthusiasm.

2024
The Snack Letter

Our Sunday newsletter went live. A few hundred readers, then a few thousand, all by word of mouth.

2025
The first 100 snacks

Chips, cookies, candy, and healthy bites grew into their own editorial beats — each with its own reviewer.

2025
Reader-funded

We stopped taking sponsorships entirely. The publication is now supported by readers and the newsletter alone.

2026
Still small, on purpose

We publish less than we used to. We taste more. The goal is the same as day one: one honest snack review at a time.

Frequently asked
Things readers ask us.

If your question isn't here, send it to hello@snackreal.com — we read everything.

Do you accept sponsored snacks or affiliate links?+

No. We stopped taking sponsorships entirely in 2025. If we ever link to a snack, it's because we actually eat it — never because we were paid to. If that ever changes, the disclosure will be at the top of the review, not buried at the bottom.

Are your snack reviews written by AI?+

No. Every snack is tried by a person with a name and a craving. We don't use AI to generate reviews, and we don't use AI to rewrite them either. If a review ever involves AI in any meaningful way, we'll say so clearly.

How do you decide what to review?+

Each category has a reviewer with a beat. They pick snacks they're curious about, taste them, and write honestly. Every review has to pass a simple test: would we actually eat this again, and would we actually recommend it?

Can I write for Snack Real?+

Yes — we work with a small number of regular contributors and occasionally take pitches. Send a short pitch (2–3 paragraphs) and one sample of your writing to hello@snackreal.com with the subject line "Pitch."

How is the newsletter different from the site?+

The newsletter is a weekly letter — one good snack idea, delivered Sunday morning. It's not a digest of everything we published that week. It's a small, personal note, plus links to the snacks worth trying. You can unsubscribe at any time, no hard feelings.

Why is there no comment section?+

Because we'd rather have a real conversation over email than a comment section that nobody has time to moderate well. If you want to respond to a snack review, write to us. We reply to almost everything.

Pitches, corrections, and snack tips.

We read every email. Whether you want to write for us, correct something we got wrong, or just tell us about a snack we need to try — we're here for it.
